Arsenal have formally made Eddie Nketiah one final contract offer, and sources suggest the player is now ready to stay at the club.

The Daily Mail report that Arsenal have made their last attempt to keep Eddie Nketiah at the club, with the striker having rejected all previous offers to stay.

West Ham United and Crystal Palace were among the clubs hoping to snap Nketiah up if he was available on a free transfer. Sources now suggest he’s minded to stay at Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta has made it clear he wants to keep the striker, and those at Arsenal are growing optimistic that’s now a possibility.

The Gunners made their previous attempt to sign Nketiah up to a new deal back in December, but he turned it down almost immediately.

Reports at the time suggested that had nothing to do with the finances involved, Nketiah just wasn’t happy with the first-team opportunities he was getting.

You can see why the situation has changed in the last couple of months.

Though it took until April 16th for Nketiah to get his first Premier League start of the season, he then remained in the lineup for the rest of the campaign.

The 22-year-old scored five goals in his final seven games, bringing him into double figures in all competitions. His other five goals came in the League Cup, finishing the campaign as the competition’s top scorer.

In all, Nketiah provided 11 goal contributions in 1,284 minutes, or one every 117 minutes.

The England u21 all-time leading scorer will be wary of signing on with Arsenal only for a new signing to replace him, but he finally has the evidence that Arteta is willing to give him a chance in the team.
