Arsenal “obviously” have some reservations over signingLeicester City and Belgium midfielder Youri Tielemans forMikel Arteta’s Gunners side at the Emirates Stadium ahead of the January transfer window, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The 25-year-old is currently on World Cup duty in Qatar with Roberto Martinez’s Red Devils squad.

Arsenal transfer news – Youri Tielemans

CBS journalist Ben Jacobs has previously told GIVEMESPORT that Tielemans currently has his “heart set” on a move to Arsenal amid long-term interest from the north London side.

The 57-time Belgium international’s £120k-per-week contract (via Salary Sport) at the King Power Stadium will expire at the end of this season, meaning that the Gunners could either get him at a cut-price fee in the January transfer window or secure his signing on a free next summer.

Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano has backed up claims of Tielemans’ desire to join Arsenal in the future, with the transfer guru stating in his CaughtOffside column that both the midfielder and Shakhtar Donetsk and Ukraine winger Mykhaylo Mudryk are “attracted” to Arsenal.

But Jones believes that the current Premier League leaders may be unsure about a move for the midfielder, with the club having not signed the Leicester star in the summer, despite having the opportunity to do so.

What has Jones said about Tielemans and Arsenal?

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “I think they need to make sure that he’s still the same player that they thought he was when they were beginning their pursuit.

“This is a year-long thing now since Arsenal have been looking at Tielemans.

“There’s obviously some reservations around it given they didn’t go and sign him in the summer when they could have.”

What next for Tielemans and Arsenal?

Whilst all signs do lead to a Tielemans move to Arsenal in either January or next summer, the midfielder’s primary focus will be on getting Belgium out of a tricky group-stage situation at the World Cup for the time being.

Martinez’s side go into Thursday’s decider with Croatia in third place, a point behind both their opponents and Morocco, after the Red Devils’ 2-0 defeat to the latter last weekend.

Tielemans will be desperate to contribute to a winning performance that would secure Belgium’s progression to the knock-out stages, and then hope to impress beyond the last 16 in a bid to convince Arsenal that they are making the right move by luring him to the Emirates Stadium.
