Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman was in the transfer rumor mill all summer as FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain were two clubs linked to the winger. Another club with the 28-year-old on their radar was Arsenal, but they opted for another player.
The Gunners went for Raheem Sterling during last Friday’s transfer window deadline instead of the Bayern Munich standout. The question is whether securing the former Chelsea veteran was the right decision over someone like Coman.
Although Coman’s name was mentioned in the rumor mill, one expert believes this was his camp putting it out there to try to make a last-minute move out of the Bavarian side.
“Kingsley Coman was also linked late on, but I don’t know if there was any truth in that,” Charles Watts said, speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside. “His representatives were certainly doing all they could late on in the window to try and get his name out there to see if they could engineer a move.”
Ultimately, neither of these clubs secured Coman, who stays with the Bundesliga side. It will be interesting to see how this decision plays out for the 2020 UEFA Champions League winner and should things not work out for the winger, there’s the January window for a potential exit.
