Arsenal midfielder Frida Maanum netted two goals as Norway defeated Albania 7-0 in FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023 qualifier this evening.

Maanum netted a goal in each half in Tirana while Chelsea’s Guro Reiten and Manchester United’s Maria Thorisdottir were also on target for Martin Sjögren’s side.

Norway broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute against Albania with Maanum netting from close range after being played in by Reiten.

Sjögren’s side had to wait until the hour mark before adding to their lead through Reiten. That goal opened the floodgates with Reiten providing two assists in a 10-minute spell for Thorisdottir and Karina Sævik as Norway quickly established a 4-0 lead with 19 minutes left on the clock.

Maanum then blasted in a fifth goal before Vilde Hasund and Elisabeth Terland added two more late on as Norway rounded-off a fine 7-0 away victory.

Norway remain on top of their FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023 qualifying group with 13 points taken from five games. Poland and Belgium continue to apply significant pressure on the Norwegians. Sjögren’s side again play away from home on Tuesday when they travel to Yerevan to take on bottom side Armenia. That game will undoubtedly provide Arsenal midfielder Maanum and her international teammates with another opportunity to record a large winning scoreline.
