Arsenal midfielder Frida Maanum could get the green light from club medical staff to face Manchester City on Sunday.

The 22-year-old took a bang in the ribs whilst on international duty with Norway. Maanum took a hefty blow from Kosovo goalkeeper Florentina Kolgeci in Norway’s 3-0 FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia New Zealand 2023 qualifying victory in Pristina on Tuesday.

There were initial concerns that the player may have broken ribs, however, reports by Norwegian news outlet NRK have confirmed that Maanum’s injury is not serious and she is already feeling better. The player is likely to face a final examination by Arsenal medical staff upon her return to England but Maanum seemingly has every chance of facing Manchester City at Meadow Park on Sunday evening.

Maanum joined Arsenal in the summer following a spell with Swedish club Linköpings FC. The player has already made a really positive impact in North London, starting every game so far this season and regularly catching the eye. The Gunners look a stronger prospect this season and Maanum has got to take some of the credit for that.

Arsenal have collected maximum points from their opening two Barclays FA Women’s Super League matches and  Jonas Eidevall’s side will be keen to continue their winning start this weekend against an injury-hit Manchester City outfit.
