Arsenal midfielder Malin Gut has completed a move to Grasshopper Club Zürich according to reports on The Gunners’ official website.

The 21-year-old Swiss international joined The Gunners from the same club in 2020 but she has endured a difficult period in England with Gut having suffered from long term injury.

Gut made 20 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions before suffering a serious knee injury. Gut has never played for head coach Jonas Eidevall with the player’s last outing being the goalless draw with Aston Villa at the LV Bet Stadium on the final day of last season.

The midfielder had always played her football in her native Switzerland prior to her move to Arsenal. Gut started her senior career with FC Zürich in 2015 before making the switch to Grasshopper Club Zürich four years later. The return home may now be just what the player needs as she looks to get back out on the pitch and push her claims for an inclusion in national team boss Nils Nielsen’s squad for the UEFA Women’s EURO this summer.

It is understood that Gut is nearing fitness once again following her injury and she should be in a position to resume playing competitive football in the not-so-distant future. She joins a Grasshopper Club Zürich side who are currently in third place in the Swiss Nationalliga A.
