Ethan Nwaneri has been making his first-team breakthrough with Arsenal this season, playing 16 times for the senior side in all competitions and scoring four goals.

Yet the 17-year-old isn’t the only Nwaneri on the production line at Arsenal, with his younger brother Emerson working his way through the club’s academy system.

Emerson Nwaneri is just 14 years old, so he still has a while to go until he reaches the senior side himself. But Ethan has told the Arsenal website that he’s hoping the two end up playing together someday.

“He’s a midfielder but he can play right back as well,” Ethan said of Emerson. “He’s in the under-15s this year.

“We’re really close, but I wouldn’t say we are that similar. He’s probably more outgoing than me – he’s the loud one!

“There are three years between us so it would be really cool if we could both play in the Arsenal first-team together one day. We’ve spoken about that a bit and what that would be like, it’s something to aim for.”

Emerson Nwaneri recently received a call-up for the England u15s, though both he and Ethan are also eligible for Nigeria. So far, Ethan has also opted to play for England, progressing to the u19s in September.

If all goes well, the pair could share a pitch for both club and country someday.
