The Telegraph claim Konstantinos Mavropanos and Shkodran Mustafi could leave in the January transfer window.
In Mavropanos’ case, it would be a loan departure. The centre-back is in double figures for u23 appearances this campaign, but only on one solitary senior game for the season. That one start was under Freddie Ljungberg.
Though he did make the bench three times under Mikel Arteta, Mavropanos hasn’t played a minute under the new head coach. He also only played 149 minutes in Unai Emery’s 18 months in charge. Clearly, a loan is a good idea for the 22-year-old.
As for Mustafi, Arsenal are ready to listen to offers. The Telegraph point out this isn’t the first time they’ve done so though. They also made the centre-back available in the summer without any success.
Perhaps Mustafi’s decision to sign up with a new agency might help. Previously, his only representation came from his father.
Mustafi earned himself a second chance with some hard-working performances in the Europa League at the start of the campaign, but it didn’t last. Disappointing displays against Frankfurt, Norwich City and Chelsea, in particular, put his Arsenal career on the brink.
Again, a transfer would be a good idea. If Arsenal can bring in some money to reinvest, even better.
