Chelmsford City announced their Player of the Month award last week, with Arsenal’s Ovie Ejeheri receiving the accolade. The award is voted by fans, so Ejeheri has clearly been making a good impression on the Chelmsford supporters.

Chelmsford wrote that “Ejeheri has produced some sublime performances over the season sing signing on loan”, and Chelmsford fan account ClaretsXtra added “best goalkeeper to ever play in this division”.

Over the course of November, Ejeheri kept two clean sheets, only conceding five goals in six matches. With another shutout to kick off December, he’s now in double figures for clean sheets.

Ejeheri was particularly impressive against Barnet in the FA Cup, as Chelmsford took the higher-tier side to a replay and only lost 1-0 to eventually exit the competition.

But it’s in the league where the fans might be starting to dream, with Chelmsford fourth in the table and just five points off the top.

If they win their games in hand, they could rise to second. Either way, they’re in strong contention for the promotion play-off places and perhaps even an automatic spot.

Ejeheri and the Chelmsford defence have to take a lot of credit for that, as they have easily the lowest goals-conceded tally (12 in 19 games) in the division.

The Arsenal 19-year-old’s loan side will be keen to extend his deal, which currently expires in January.
