Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin started his career in Barcelona, rising through their youth ranks before moving to North London as a 16-year-old.

Now he’s on loan at Real Betis, which means at least a couple of chances to face off against his old club this season. The first of those chances came in the form of a trip to Camp Nou on Saturday.

In Betis’ previous 10 matches away to Barcelona, they’d lost nine, but this is a Barcelona outside the top four and without Lionel Messi, so perhaps there was a bit more reason to be confident.

It certainly proved that way, with Betis coming away with both a win and a clean sheet.

Hector Bellerin completed the full 90 minutes, creating a couple of chances and making three tackles and interceptions to preserve that clean sheet.

Bellerin kept his post-match celebration message short on Instagram, simply posting “let’s go, my Beti” along with a picture of the dressing room celebrations after the game.

The away side certainly have reason to be cheerful, sitting third in La Liga at the time of writing.

There’s a very good chance they’ll be involved in the Champions League race in the second half of the season, possibly at Barcelona’s expense.

More importantly for Arsenal fans, Bellerin seems to have turned things around since his red card a couple of weeks ago, with a couple of assists against Ferencvaros and an away win at Barcelona.
