Arsenal loanee injured scoring his 5th pre-season goal

Arsenal loanee Nikolaj Moller looked to be continuing his strong pre-season form by scoring again on Friday, but he picked up an injury in the process.

Arsenal’s Nikolaj Moller has been in top form during pre-season on his loan return to FC Den Bosch, and Friday’s match against fellow Eerste Divisie side Almere City FC was no different.

With Almere hosting the match and taking an early lead, Moller responded to force an equaliser home in the 37th minute. But the goal came at a cost.

The loan striker took a hard kick as he scored, and he was quickly substituted. The good news is that Daily Cannon understand it wasn’t a twisted ankle or a recurrence of his previous foot injury.

All the same, it’s early days for the injury, so we’ll have to see how Moller recovers in the coming days before we can draw any conclusions on the potential timescale of his absence.

The 19-year-old will hope to be back as quickly as possible, to keep his current form going. Moller has only made seven pre-season appearances, most of which just lasted a half, yet he’s scored five goals and assisted one already.

Even in appearances where he didn’t score, he’s played a positive role. Moller didn’t get a goal against AFC Amsterdam, for example, but one of his shots was turned in on the rebound.

Moller’s pre-season tally is already better than he managed in a disrupted first spell with Den Bosch, but he needs to keep it up in the competitive fixtures.

Those matches aren’t far away now, with Den Bosch hosting FC Eindhoven on August 5th, the same night Arsenal kick off their Premier League season against Crystal Palace.

That’s obviously a tight turnaround now that he has an injury problem to overcome.
