Gunners complete seventh capture in £250m spree
Arsenal Light Up Market With Explosive Final Day Twist
Arsenal've officially announced the signing of England international Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace in deal worth up to 68 million sterling pound.
The 26 year old midfielder signed 4 year contract with the Gunners and will wear the iconic No10 shirt. The move fulfils Eze’s childhood dream of playing for Arsenal becoming the club’s 7th arrival this summer in record breaking £250m transfer window.
Eze’s transfer has sparked comparisons with the famous Sol Campbell saga in 2001. Tottenham were close to sealing his signature last week after agreeing terms with Palace but Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta stepped in late to hijack the deal.
Spurs refusal to trigger the £68m release clause proved decisive as Arsenal wasted no time in paying the fee before the clause expired on the PL’s opening day.
The signing underlines Arsenal’s ambition to challenge on all fronts this season. With Eze joining host of new arrivals, Arteta now has greater creativity and depth in midfield while the player himself takes on the pressure of delivering in squad chasing both domestic & european glory.
