Arsenal legend says current player should play left back to accommodate Cole Palmer

An Arsenal legend says that a current Arsenal player should be switched to left back so that they can accommodate Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, in some very surprising quotes.

The Euros continues and last night it was the turn of England and Gareth Southgate again. They were terrible, and they couldn’t even score on a 0-0 bore draw against Slovenia last night, but there was one player who could hold his head up.

Cole Palmer was superb when he came on for his 20 minute second half cameo, and he even drew praise from pundit Roy Keane after the game.

They were discussing Palmer’s role for England on ITV and suggesting that he needs to start games for England going forward now. But of course, Bukayo Saka is the main starter in Palmer’s position.

Ian Wright has a solution

Arsenal legend Ian Wright says that Saka should be moved to left back so they can start Palmer on the right. This might not be such a crazy ask, because Saka did play in that position at youth level for England!

As cited by The Secret Scout, Wright said: “With how naturally left-sided Saka is, can we put Saka at left back and Cole Palmer on the right-hand side?”

It’s a surprising comment from the former Arsenal player against a current one, but as a Chelsea fan I completely back it!!

Saka could be great as a left wing-back, but I’d be concerned defensively if he played as a left full back. But for me, we need to do anything we can do to get Palmer starting these games, as a Chelsea and as an England fan.

One thing is clear though, and that is Wrighty has just created so many memes and banter ammo for Chelsea fans going forward!!
