Of Arsenal’s six summer signings, none have played a greater percentage of Premier League minutes since their join date than Takehiro Tomiyasu.

The right-back has only missed 28 minutes of league action since joining, having been substituted off in the 62nd minute of his debut.

Even Aaron Ramsdale and Ben White have at least missed a couple of games each.

For the most part, Tomiyasu’s Arsenal spell has been going very well, though the Liverpool result was certainly a low point.

Former Arsenal right-back Lauren is happy with Tomiyasu from what he’s seen so far.

“Tomiyasu is a very good player, I like him,” Lauren said.

“He’s settled very well. He looks comfortable and looks as if he has played there for years.

“They (Arsenal) have a good, settled defence now.”

The Japanese international had one of his best games at the weekend, bouncing back from that Liverpool defeat.

Tomiyasu made one clearance, one interception, and three tackles on the defensive end, winning seven of his 10 duels. He also completed 87.5% of his passes, including six of his six long balls.

Most importantly, in a match where Arsenal spent most of the game trying to break Newcastle down, he created three chances. That included one big chance, providing an assist for Gabriel Martinelli’s goal.

Only turning 23 earlier this month, there should be plenty more to come from Tomiyasu.
