Arsenal Weigh Move for Rodrygo as Summer Rebuild Strategy Evolves

Left-wing puzzle part of broader vision

Rodrygo, Leroy Sané, Nico Williams, Morgan Rogers. Four names, four different profiles, one clear objective. Arsenal want a left-winger this summer. A real one. Not a converted right-footer or a versatile midfielder, but someone who can drive at defenders, create width and offer the kind of vertical threat Arteta’s system often lacks.

Sky Sports reports that Real Madrid’s Rodrygo is among the names under serious consideration. The Brazilian’s future is uncertain following Madrid’s latest Galáctico evolution, but he is still under contract until 2028 and will meet with new manager Xabi Alonso to discuss what comes next.

Arsenal, now under the technical stewardship of Andrea Berta, are doing their homework. Berta, who began his role in March, is gathering data, character insights and performance profiles before greenlighting moves with Arteta. There is logic here, and some welcome patience.

Striker shortlist speaks volumes

In parallel, the striker debate continues. Viktor Gyökeres, Benjamin Šeško, Alexander Isak. Names that reflect different styles, leagues and prices, but all with proven pedigree.

Newcastle’s confidence in retaining Isak, particularly after securing Champions League football, complicates matters. The same applies to Gyökeres, heavily courted across Europe. Arsenal are watching closely, yet remain deliberately unclear on their top target.

Add Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad and a backup goalkeeper to the equation, and Arsenal’s summer becomes less about revolution and more about calculated evolution.

Our View – EPL Index Analysis

This isn’t about style over substance. He’s a Champions League regular, technically sharp, and tactically intelligent. He wouldn’t just add goals and assists, he’d bring a completely new dynamic to Arsenal’s left flank.

It’s smart that Berta and Arteta are being deliberate. There’s no rush to overpay or panic-buy, especially when the striker market is volatile. Whether it’s Gyökeres or Šeško, the key is fit — not just flair. With Rodrygo’s situation potentially shifting due to Xabi Alonso’s arrival, now is the time for Arsenal to position themselves well.

It also matters that this doesn’t feel scattergun. For once, the club seem aligned from boardroom to touchline. Rodrygo on the left, Saka on the right, and a reliable number nine through the middle? That’s a front line built to compete with Europe’s best.
