Thuram is set to leave on a free transfer when his contract expires in June and it is now reported that many clubs are looking to land his services.

Atletico Madrid, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are mentioned as candidates to sign him, but Thuram wants to play Champions League football.

Hence, Arsenal have a genuine advantage over their European rivals in the transfer race.

Thuram would be a terrific signing on a free transfer

Thuram has had an outstanding campaign with Monchengladbach. The 25-year-old has bagged 13 goals and four assists from just 19 appearances in all competitions.

The Frenchman has played as the main striker this campaign but he is also versatile. Thuram has managed 50 percent of his career appearances from the left wing.

On a free transfer, he would prove a shrewd signing for the Gunners this summer. Thuram wouldn’t be a regular starter, but he provides more quality off the bench.

His strong physique, dribbling skills and ability to hold up play would suit the Premier League. It seems a no-brainer signing for Arsenal if Thuram accepts a back-up role.

Meanwhile, manager Mikel Arteta has a big decision to make next season with the emergence of Folarin Balogun. He has been brilliant for Reims on loan this campaign.

The youngster has bagged 15 goals from just 21 outings. If Arteta decides to keep him, it could directly have an impact on the club’s plans to bring in another striker.
