Arsenal’s ‘interest is growing’ in Villarreal winger Yeremy Pino amid continued speculation over his future, according to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs.

The 19-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Estadio de la Cerámica this summer after he enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2021/22 with his boyhood club.

What is the latest news involving Pino?

Spanish outlet AS have recently reported that Arsenal have launched a €40 million (£33.8m) for Pino as manager Mikel Arteta looks to improve his options in the final third of the pitch.

The four-cap Spain international is believed to have an €80m (£67.5m) release clause written into his contract, but Villarreal’s financial issues mean they could be willing to offload their prized asset in a cut-price deal.

And transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Pino’s situation in his latest column for CaughtOffside.

“Many clubs have been following Yeremy Pino for months, he is a top player of the future that at least three Premier League clubs have been monitoring for some time,” wrote Romano.

“No proposals have been made yet to Villarreal, who would like more than €50m (£42m) for their young star, it will not be an easy negotiation.”

What has Jacobs said about Pino?

Jacobs believes Arsenal’s pursuit of Pino is ‘definitely one to watch’ between now and September’s deadline largely due to Villarreal’s need to raise funds.

In an interview with GiveMeSport, he said: “Yeah, I mean, Pino and the sort of Arsenal interest is growing, I think that is fair to say.

“And it’s definitely one to watch between now and when the window shuts. And one of the reasons for that is because there is a need at the Villarreal end to sell.”

Where would Pino fit in?

Arsenal often line up with Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli out wide, while academy graduate Emile Smith Rowe is another exciting option when fit.

However, beyond that, Arteta is short on strength in depth, with both Nicolas Pepe and Reiss Nelson linked with moves away from the Emirates Stadium in recent weeks after failing to impress.

Pino, who is comfortable on either flank, registered seven goals and four assists in 40 appearances for Villarreal last term, helping his side reach the Champions League semi-finals, leading to him being labelled “extraordinary”.

The talented teenager would surely have the ability and potential to become a valuable asset to Arteta, therefore, should Arsenal be able to secure his signature.
