Charles Watts reports in the Daily Briefing that Arsenal had planned to sell or loan Kieran Tierney in the summer, and it likely would have happened if not for his injury at the Euros.
Watts writes that Tierney isn’t in Mikel Arteta’s plans, and he accepts that fact. He’ll now hope to get a move in January, most likely on loan, so he can get some minutes ahead of a summer transfer.
As it stands, Tierney is reportedly still working on making a return to full fitness after that hamstring injury. Despite recent pictures of the player in individual training, he’s clearly not match ready yet.

In a sign that there really are no ill feelings between Tierney and Arsenal, the player has recently been spotted supporting the team at the Emirates Stadium.
The left-back sat alongside Takehiro Tomiyasu (then injured) and Tommy Setford behind the dugouts for Arsenal’s match against Leicester City, and he was there again for the Southampton game.
Tierney may not be able to help Arsenal on the pitch right now, but he’s evidently sticking with the squad behind the scenes.

It’s now been three months and almost three weeks since Tierney’s injury against Switzerland on June 19th. That’s a lengthy absence for a hamstring injury, so the hope will be that he’s back fit before too long.
