Arsenal have told Bukayo Saka and his representatives that he is an ‘important’ part of their long-term plans and the winger will pen a new Emirates Stadium contract ‘soon’, according to journalist Paul Brown.

Saka has played a key role in the Gunners going into the international break sitting top of the Premier League table and boss Mikel Arteta wants the academy product to commit his future to the club.

What’s the latest news involving Saka?

According to 90min, talks over a new contract are progressing well and there is growing confidence that Saka will put pen-to-paper before the transfer window reopens at the turn of the year.

The report suggests tying the 18-cap England international down to fresh terms has been on Arsenal’s agenda for a prolonged period of time, while Real Madrid and Manchester City are among the sides monitoring the situation.

Saka has entered the final two years of his £33,000-per-week contract, leading to question marks over his long-term future, and Liverpool have been tracking developments.

Respected Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that agreeing fresh terms is a priority for Arsenal and discussions have been ongoing since February.

Saka’s early season form has been rewarded as he has been included in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the Nations League clashes against Italy and Germany, which will take place on Friday and Monday.

What has Paul Brown said about Saka?

Brown believes Arsenal have been making it clear to Saka that he has an integral part to play in Arteta’s squad during discussions.

The journalist understands the winger is not seeking a hefty pay rise and, as a result, is optimistic that he will agree to fresh terms quickly.

When asked whether Saka should sign a new deal, Brown told GIVEMESPORT: “I think that’s the right thing for him. Arsenal know just how important he is and they’ve made that very clear to him and his people in talks.

“I don’t think there’s any danger that Saka is going to walk away anytime soon. I don’t think he’s demanding the earth either, compared to the money that Arsenal have shelled out on players before him in wages. I think that will get done fairly soon.”

Does Saka want to stay at Arsenal?

Saka admitted last month that he is confident that a contract extension will be agreed in the not-too-distant future, so it is clear that he wants to stay on Arsenal’s books.

That should not come as a surprise as he came through the north Londoners’ ranks before going on to make 139 senior appearances, scoring 24 goals and registering a further 33 assists in the process.

It was reported earlier this year that Arsenal are willing to offer Saka a contract worth £125,000-per-week, meaning he is in line for a major pay increase.

If talks over fresh terms do not go smoothly and a move away from the Emirates Stadium is suddenly on the cards, it is understood that the Gunners value the wide-man at £100million.
