Arsenal have the possibility of 'returning to the table' to try and resurrect a deal for Brighton & Hove Albion ace Moises Caicedo in the summer, transfer insider Dean Jones has informed GIVEMESPORT.

The 21-year-old was heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in January; however, will now remain on the South Coast for the remainder of 2022/23.

Last month, Arsenal failed in a bid of around £70 million to bring Caicedo to North London, with his current employers Brighton being intent at the time on holding out for an £80 million fee, as reported by The Daily Mail.

Of course, having seen their attempts to land the Ecuadorian international fail, the Gunners instead opted to bring in Jorginho from Chelsea for £12 million to solidify their midfield depth in the hunt for the Premier League title.

Since then, Brighton CEO Paul Barber has shed light on potential interest in Seagulls' players in the summer on the JP & T: The Football Friendly Podcast.

In an interview with Jonathan Pearce and Terry Alderton, Barber was honest about potentially losing his top prospects in the summer, stating: "I can see myself having a busy summer if I am honest! It's almost a double-edged sword because the better we finish in the second half of the season and the better those players you mention perform, the harder summer we are going to have and we know that and are realistic about that."

What has Dean Jones said about Moises Caicedo?

Journalist Jones thinks that Arsenal may try their luck once again in trying to entice Caicedo this summer, though wonders whether it will be possible to thrash a deal out with Brighton.

Jones told GMS: "I don't think it's dead, but I do seriously wonder if it can be revived. Now. I mean, Arsenal stepped away from it, basically, to avoid causing any more commotion or annoyance at Brighton with the level of their bidding and what that means, I guess, is that there is potential now of returning to the table, trying to sew the relations and then seeing if they can talk again about this."

Will Arsenal be able to land Moises Caicedo in the summer?

Despite his public plea in January to leave the Amex Stadium in January, Caicedo was halted in his desire to leave for a new challenge by Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi and they he choose to try and keep him on the books for another season rather than sell one of their prize assets in the summer.

Nevertheless, Caicedo's contract at Brighton does only run until the summer of 2025, signifying that the door could be left ajar for Arsenal to swoop in and negotiate if he fails to agree on new terms at the Premier League high-flyers. The Seagulls will not want to reduce the potentially significant fee they could receive for the 21-year-old and may be tempted into selling him before his value starts to decline.

In 2022/23, he has made 23 appearances in all competitions, notching one goal and one assist, as per Transfermarkt.
