Arsenal have been handed a huge Premier League title boost going forward as Manchester City sporting director Txiki Begiristain is set to leave the Etihad Stadium club next summer, according to the Sun.
The Gunners have finished behind the Sky Blues in each of the last two seasons, and the most successful period in the club’s history has been orchestrated by Begiristain.
The 60-year-old joined Man City from Barcelona in 2012 and was instrumental in bringing Pep Guardiola to the club in 2015.
The Man City manager could also leave at the end of the season as he has yet to sign an extension, and the imminent departure of Begiristain will only increase speculation about his future.
Arsenal will fancy their chances of winning the title ahead of a Man City side without Guardiola, and even the being without assistance from Begiristain next season will be a huge blow for the former Barca boss if he decides to remain at the club.
The Gunners have improved significantly under manager Mikel Arteta, but going against the current champions have frustrated his efforts.
Arsenal missed out on the title by five points in 2022-23 and two points last season, and they could have won the title were they challenging another club in each of those seasons.
The imminent departure of Begiristain could see Guardiola also move on, and some of their top stars could also follow suit, which will further hand Arsenal much-needed boost in subsequent title races.
