A seven goal thriller saw Arsenal take all three points from their WSL meeting against Manchester City. The game provided all of the drama expected from a top three clash. How it went

Just a minute into the tie and Arsenal were ahead, leaving City stunned. Capitalising on a sloppy piece of defending, Mariona Caldentey slotted the ball beyond Khiara Keating to give her side the early lead. Lotte Wubben-Moy doubled the Gunners advantage eight minutes later, nodding home a well-worked free-kick.

Mary Fowler pulled one back for the hosts on the stroke of 20 minutes, heading home Aoba Fujino’s cross. The goal seemed to ignite something in the hosts as they began piling the pressure onto their opponents.

Vivianne Miedema came back to haunt her old side, slotting the ball beyond Daphne Van Domselaar in the 50th minute. No sooner had the City fans sat back down, the visitors retook the lead. Frida Maanum’s low shot came from a moment of weakness in the midfield as Jess Park was dispossessed in the centre of the field.

The action continued as Aoba Fujino was brought down just inside the area in the 53rd minute. Mary Fowler stepped up to take the spot kick, firing her effort beyond Van Domselaar to level the score once more.

Arsenal retook the lead in the 78th minute through Stina Blackstenius after Laia Aleixandri gave the ball away in a dangerous area.
