Elvis Bašanović, agent of Arsenal and Milan target Benjamin Sesko admits Serie A clubs may not be able to ‘afford’ the RB Leipzig striker and says his client does not intend to move to Saudi Arabia.

Sesko has emerged as a top target for many big clubs in Europe, especially Milan and Arsenal and his agent Bašanović provided the latest updates on the future of the Slovenia international in an interview with Sportklub.

“I can say that Benjamin is being considered by both the Premier League and Serie A. But out of respect, I can’t mention the names of the clubs,” he admitted.

“We are talking about top clubs. We have to realize that Benjamin is currently in a top club. There are very few people who realize how big a club Leipzig is. There are certainly eventful weeks ahead of us.”

The 20-year-old has been offered a contract extension by the Bundesliga side.

“Benjamin has more opportunities at the end of the season. But that’s his decision,” said his agent.

“We will suggest what is best for his long-term development. Leipzig are trying extremely hard to keep Benjamin. They have their arguments on the side of development, they are also a big club with excellent conditions. They have strong cards. Healthy development has priority over the economic side.”

Nevertheless, when asked which country Sesko could play in next season, the striker’s agent replied: “It’s difficult for Italy [clubs] to afford [him] at the moment. I said a lot with that. But that doesn’t mean it’s not impossible. The decision is up to Benjamin. It is our duty to bring him offers.”

Saudi clubs have also shown interest in the RB Leipzig star, but Sesko does not seem willing to leave the Old Continent.

“I can confirm that there is interest, but at the same time, Benjamin will not leave Europe under any circumstances. At least not right now,” his agent concluded.

Sesko’s contract includes a €50m release clause, but it is linked to his performances, so recent reports in Germany suggested it has been raised to at least €65m for this summer.

The Slovenia international has netted 18 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions this season and his contract with RB Leipzig expires in June 2028.

Milan are also interested in Bologna star Joshua Zirkzee, who would be much cheaper than Sesko, given that the Dutchman has a €40m clause.
