Arsenal forward Mana Iwabuchi has provided a personal fitness update confirming that she has undergone successful surgery on both of her ankles.

The 29-year-old Japanese international attacker provided the update via a post on her personal Instagram account. The player has confirmed that the surgery went well and she is already feeling better.

Iwabuchi joined Arsenal last summer after leaving Aston Villa. The player initially made a spectacular start to life in North London, particularly impressing in the club’s fixtures in the early stages of the UEFA Women’s Champions League, but she fell out of favour as the season went on.

The forward scored four goals for The Gunners in her first season with the club, three of those strikes coming in the early stages of the UEFA Women’s Champions League. After undergoing surgery, Iwabuchi will now be hoping to make a greater impression in an Arsenal shirt in her second season with the club in 2022/2023.

Arsenal will again compete in four competitions next season meaning that the North Londoners will face another hectic fixture schedule. Minutes will be offered to all members of the squad and it will be up to the players to take the opportunities when they come their way.
