Arsenal forward Kai Havertz will not link up with Germany for October’s international break due to a knee problem.

Havertz played and scored in Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday but sustained a knock that will rule him out of the upcoming internationals.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the German Federation have been informed Havertz will not be available for Nations League games with Bosnia and the Netherlands this month. The 25-year-old will remain at Arsenal to undergo assessment on a knee injury.

Havertz has started the season in fine form with six goals in 10 appearances across all competitions for the Gunners. His goal against Southampton at the weekend was the seventh straight home game the German has scored in at the Emirates.

Germany have Bayern Munich’s Serge Gnabry and Stuttgart striker Deniz Undav as alternatives to Havertz in October’s squad. There is also a first call-up for Borussia Monchengladbach’s Tim Kleindienst.
