Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson needs to take his chance if he plays against Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League, according to journalist Paul Brown.

The £38,000 per-week star could make his first Gunners start for almost two years when Mikel Arteta’s side face the Norweigan club tonight.

What's the latest news involving Nelson?

Nelson's most recent Gunners appearance came on the opening day of last season, but after returning to the squad for the north London derby, he could end that long wait tonight.

Nelson spent last season on loan at Feyenoord, gaining valuable experience in Holland, where he played 32 games and reached a European final.

But Nelson has been injured since he returned to Arsenal, missing the first nine games this season with a thigh problem.

However, he returned to the squad against Tottenham and could now take advantage of Emile Smith Rowe being injured by making his first start for the club since another Europa League tie back in December 2020.

"He's been a part of our academy system and now he's going to have an opportunity. He's been out for almost three months with an injury, he's back now, he's fully fit and he’s ready to play. He just needs minutes now."

But with competition fierce in the wide areas, Brown reckons that Nelson simply has to catch the eye if he gets the nod tonight.

What did Brown say about Nelson?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "Reiss Nelson really needs to take his chance, he's probably not going to get a whole lot of opportunities this season because people have jumped ahead of him in the queue."

Who else could start for Arsenal?

With Arteta's squad already thin due to injuries and a failure to sign a winger or a central midfielder in the summer window, the Arsenal boss is likely to make wholesale changes, especially with Liverpool visiting the Emirates on Sunday.

As a result, along with Nelson, squad players Takehiro Tomiyasu, Rob Holding, Albert Sami Lokonga, Fabio Vieira, Marquinhos and Eddie Nketiah will all be hoping to get some much-needed minutes under their belts.

And if Arsenal are in a winning position later on in the game, Arteta might also look to give minutes to more youngsters following Ethan Nwaneri's recent debut at Brentford.
