Arsenal forced to pay Flamengo nearly £1m after Pablo Mari appearance

Arsenal star Pablo Mari cost the club nearly £1m during their 1-0 loss to Manchester City.

The Gunners were narrowly beaten by the current Premier League leaders, and could have lost by more goals.

Mari started the game after returning from injury.

Given the terms of his signing, which included appearance-based installments, Mari triggered one of the clauses.

Arsenal had to pay Flamengo £863,000 due to his additional appearance.

Despite the poor result, Mari was glad to be back, and head coach Mikel Arteta will be happy to have more central defensive options.
