Arsenal sold Pierre Emerick Aubameyang in January, and now they’ve released Alexandre Lacazette.
That leaves them very short up front, and signing a top striker must be high on Mikel Arteta’s list of priorities.
Unfortunately for them, one of their top targets is going to drag them in to Chelsea’s own sticky striker situation involving Romelu Lukaku.
The Daily Mail report that the Gunners want to sign Gianluca Scamacca from Sassuolo.
The problem is that he’s also a target for Inter.
So if Chelsea manage to shift Lukaku back to Inter, the path is clear for Scamacca to head to the Emirates.
But if (as looks likely) the financial side of the Lukaku deal proves impossible for Inter to afford, they will be right in for the young Italian instead, potentially scuppering Arsenal’s grand designs to upgrade up top.
What a mess this is all turning in to for everyone…
