A brace from new club captain Martin Odegaard and a sublime second half strike from William Saliba secured a a very comfortable victory for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Summer signings Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus were brilliant once again, while the likes of Gabriel Martinelli, Granit Xhaka and Ben White continued their fine form as well.

It’s a great time to be an Arsenal supporter right now and the squad’s start to the new season could not be anymore different to last.

In 2021/22, the Gunners kicked off the campaign with three consecutive defeats to Brentford, Chelsea and Manchester City.

Arsenal failed to score in every single one of those games and instead conceded nine goals, with five of them coming on a day to forget at the Etihad Stadium.

Arteta’s injury-depleted team were given a footballing lesson in Manchester and Granit Xhaka’s first half red card didn’t exactly help matters.

Unsurprisingly, Arsenal fans were calling for the manager to be sacked at the time and appeared to make their feelings towards the club clearer than ever when Rodri put City 4-0 ahead at the start of the second half.

When the BT Sport cameras panned to the away end after the Spanish midfielder scored, the supporters appeared to sarcastically celebrate the goal from the hosts.

It really was the lowest point imaginable for a club the size of Arsenal.

Relive the moment from last season…

In the space of just 12 months, Arsenal fans have gone from celebrating an opposing team’s goal in a thrashing to singing their hearts out on the south coast while watching a masterclass, which is quite the turnaround.

Football, eh?

Arsenal will be hoping to extend their winning run for as long as possible and they certainly have some attractive fixtures coming up – on paper at least.

The Gunners host Fulham at the Emirates Stadium next, before a midweek encounter with Aston Villa.

After that, it’s a trip to Manchester United and judging by recent displays, Arsenal stand every chance of making it six wins from six in the Premier League.
