Arsenal had an offer rejected for Palmeiras forward Luighi in the summer transfer window, as the Brazilian side are confident he can grow further.
The Gunners did very minimal business in the transfer window as they brought in only three new faces through the door.
Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino joined the London club on permanent deals, while Raheem Sterling joined on a season-long loan from Chelsea.
Signing another forward was on their agenda and now it has been suggested that they made an attempt to sign a young forward.
According to Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola, Brasileiro Serie A side Palmeiras rejected an offer from the Gunners for 18-year-old Luighi.
The Palmeiras youth product is considered a top prospect and they are not willing to sell him before he establishes himself as they feel his value will rocket.
Luighi has played most of his football in the youth ranks at Palmeiras, but he has also made three senior appearances for the Brazilian outfit.
Now only time will tell if the Gunners will test the Brazilian club’s resolve with a lucrative offer in the winter transfer window.
