Arsenal are one of many sides interested in signing the highly-coveted Aurelien Tchouameni, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
Di Marzio disclosed this in an interview with German outlet Wettfreunde where he was quizzed on a number of trending transfer stories.
“Juventus value him [Tchouameni], they’ve wanted him a lot in the past but there’s no deal on the table now. A lot of clubs in the Premier League are following him. Arsenal, Manchester United to name just two.
“He would like to play in the Premier League. He has stayed at Monaco for another year to await a chance to play in the Premier League. I think that will be the summer when he changes.”
Over the last two seasons, Tchouameni has caught the eye at the Stade Louis II, establishing himself as one of Europe’s most exciting midfield prospects.
Chelsea have been previously credited with an interest in the 22-year-old, while Liverpool recently made contact with his entourage over a possible switch in the upcoming market.
Arsenal are looking to bolster their options in the middle of the park with Thomas Partey sidelined at the moment, while Mohamed Elneny is entering the final few months of his deal at the Emirates Stadium.
Currently sitting fourth in the Premier League table, the Gunners are on course to secure Champions League football for next season which would give them a huge boost in the pursuit of Tchouameni.
However, the finances involved could prove to be a stumbling block as Tchouameni is expected to command a fee of around £60million despite being valued at £36m.
Speaking ahead of his side’s 2-1 victory over West Ham United yesterday, Mikel Arteta stated that his side were unable to make big-money signings in the ilk of Alisson Becker and Virgil van Dijk.
Per football.london, Arsenal are keen on Napoli’s Fabian Ruiz and Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans, who are both viewed as cheaper alternatives to Tchouameni.
