Arsenal have had a quiet summer transfer window, but they could be active in the coming weeks as they prepare for the new campaign.

The club have already agreed personal terms with Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori and talks are underway with the Serie A outfit over the fee.

Aside from a centre-back, the Gunners are open to signing a new wide player, and L’Equipe claims that they are interested in landing Desire Doue.

Bayern Munich recently made the first move for the 19-year-old with a £30 million bid, but their proposal was immediately rejected by Rennes.

The Ligue 1 outfit are hoping for a bidding battle for the wonderkid with Arsenal, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain among his admirers.

Doue would be a surprise signing for Arsenal

The youngster made 42 appearances for Rennes last term, scoring four goals and providing six assists.

Apart from his goal contributions, the youngster caught the eye with his dribbling and duel-winning ability. He won more than two take-ons and 5.1 duels per game.

Doue also impressed with his high work rate, recoveries and ability to provide key passes. He obviously has huge potential but would be a surprise signing for Arsenal.

The teenager can play multiple attacking roles, but he is predominantly a left winger. Arsenal have the position well covered with Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli.

The club’s main concern has been the lack of a proper back-up for Bukayo Saka on the right wing.

The Gunners should look for a proven top-class winger to compete with Saka. Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams would be an ideal acquisition.

The Spanish sensation can be signed for his £47m release clause. His wage demands could be on the high side, but he should prove value for money for the Gunners.

Williams has largely played on the right wing in his Athletic career. He registered eight goals and 19 assists for them last season and helped them win the Copa del Rey.
