Arsenal have reportedly joined the race to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray, according to Turkish transfer chief Yagi Sabuncuoglu.

The Gunners have been searching for a new centre-forward after failing to sign Benjamin Sesko last summer.

Arsenal have looked toothless with Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus leading the line this term, and a new striker is a priority in the summer transfer window.

The North Londoners appreciate Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak, but they know the Magpies will overcharge them for the Swede.

Unsurprisingly, Arsenal have turned their attention towards a new target. Osimhen is reportedly on the Gunners shortlist, and the Nigerian international will fit like a glove.

The 26-year-old has recorded 14 goals and 10 big chances created in 18 Super Lig appearances this term. The former Lille centre-forward has also registered six goals and one assist in seven Europa League outings.

Osimhen is a powerful forward who will give any defence in the world problems. He is a relentless presser and can turn half-chances into serious opportunities with his ability to shoot from any angle or tiny space.

However, Arsenal will face competition from Chelsea and Manchester United for Osimhen’s signature. He has a release clause of around €75 million that several European giants will look to activate.

Arsenal should break the bank for Isak – View

While Osimhen is a top talent, his lack of clinical finishing raises concerns – 32 big chances missed this season is not the return of a ruthless goalscorer.

Arsenal need efficiency, not just raw power. They should push hard for Isak instead. The former Borussia Dortmund star is technically superior, ice-cold in front of goal, and offers the composed finishing Arsenal have lacked.

Yes, Newcastle will demand a premium, but if Arsenal want to challenge for major trophies, they must invest in elite quality. Breaking the bank for Isak could be the difference between another what-if season and finally lifting silverware.
