Arsenal have revealed Eberechi Eze’s shirt number after their latest signing was announced ahead of the Gunners’ Premier League encounter with Leeds.

The north Londoners are playing their first home game of the campaign against the newly-promoted Yorkshiremen on Saturday evening.

Mikel Arteta’s side beat Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford in their opening game of the campaign, thanks to Riccardo Calafiori’s header.

Eze made his move from Crystal Palace official before kick-off at the Emirates Stadium, and he was featured in an Arsenal shirt alongside Ian Wright on the club’s social media accounts.

Standard Sport understands that the England international has signed a four-year deal at the club with an option for a further year in a deal that will cost Arsenal an initial £60million, plus £7.5m in add-ons.

Funnily enough, there are a fair few Gunners icons that he will follow in the footsteps of.

Perhaps the most notable is Dennis Bergkamp, who made the number his own in his 11-year stint at the club.

In the ‘Emirates Era’, Robin van Persie and Mesut Ozil are the most high-profile players to have donned the shirt, while Jack Wilshere and Emile Smith Rowe have also worn it.

William Gallas, the centre-back, was handed the number as the first successor to Bergkamp.

Eze is comfortable with a 10 on his back, having worn the number for both Queens Park Rangers and Palace.
