Arsenal’s consistency in the Barclays Women’s Super League has been further underlined as Renee Slegers and Mariona Caldentey claimed the league’s Manager of the Month and Player of the Month awards respectively for February.

Slegers oversaw a flawless month, guiding her team to two statement victories – a thrilling 4-3 triumph at Manchester City and a commanding 5-0 dismantling of Tottenham Hotspur at Meadow Park. It is the second time this season she has been recognised, having also taken the award in December, a testament to the consistency she has instilled in her squad since becoming manager after Jonas Eidevall’s departure.

Her tactical intelligence, particularly in the chaos of that Manchester City victory, where Arsenal found themselves engaged in a relentless end-to-end battle, proved decisive. In the North London derby, Arsenal were simply ruthless, suffocating Tottenham from the outset and demonstrating a level of attacking fluency that few sides in the league can match.

For Caldentey, February saw her elevate an already superb season to new heights. The Spanish international wasted no time stamping her authority on Arsenal’s clash with City, scoring within the opening minute, before delivering another crucial strike in the rout against Spurs. Her performances, which earned her a Player of the Match award in Manchester, exemplified the intelligence, movement, and clinical edge that have made her one of the league’s most influential forwards.

She received her award at the Sobha Realty Training Centre, presented by members of Arsenal’s Under-9s from the Arsenal in the Community programme.
