Arsenal defender Gabriel says he is feeling ready to return to first-team action after injury.

The Brazilian missed the end of last season because of a hamstring injury but has returned to training with the team in pre-season.

He will travel to Asia with the rest of the squad for the Gunners’ pre-season tour and says he is in good shape.

“I am improving a lot,” he said.

“I already feel really good. I have been training really hard with the group already.

“The season is going to be full of challenges but I already feel good to hit the grounding running and play.”

Gabriel has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League previously but committed his future to Arsenal by signing a new deal until 2029.

On the reports linking him with a move away, he said: “I didn’t hear about anything personally, I didn’t receive offers.

“A lot of people like to say things on the internet. I am focused on Arsenal. That is why I signed the contract that I signed and I am focused on the club.

“We can’t focus on internet rumours. I didn’t lose my focus at any point in time. I am very focused on Arsenal and I have goals to achieve here.”

Gabriel has backed his side to “reach new heights” this coming season and is confident the Gunners can end their wait for silverware.

And the central defender says there is still more improvement to come from him too despite a stellar last campaign.

“There are always things to improve no matter what you do,” he said.

“I try to stay at my level and keep doing what I’ve been doing to improve. I think one thing I’ve improved is my leadership on the pitch, and also focusing on tactics and things like that.”
