Arsenal could be priced out of a move for Leicester City and Belgium midfielder Youri Tielemans if they don’t make a move for the player in the next week, according to Dean Jones.

Mikel Arteta’s side have been mooted to make a move for the 25-year-old across the summer, with the Emirates Stadium being the midfielder’s most-likely destination, but a move hasn’t progressed and the deal now looks unlikely to be completed before the transfer window shuts.

What’s the latest on Tielemans?

According to The Times, Leicester are willing to let the midfielder move to Arsenal for free next summer, and get one last season out of him at the King Power Stadium.

The 52-time Belgium international has entered the final year of his contract with Brendan Rodgers’ side, and will be available to sign for another club on a pre-contract for no transfer fee in January, but could be available for £32m this season.

The same report goes onto say that Arsenal have definitely been interested in a move for the former Monaco man this summer, but the club have yet to follow that up with an official bid to the East Midlands side.

And Jones believes that Leicester will price Arteta’s side out of a move for Tielemans, if the north London club don’t move for the midfielder this week.

What has Jones said about Tielemans?

He told GIVEMESPORT: “If not [if Arsenal don’t move for Tielemans in the next week], then Leicester just absolutely price them out of the deal.

“They’ve been open to the situation all summer, like there weren’t many players that they [Leicester] were happy to let leave but Tielemans was one that they were open to.

“So, the door has been open, but it’s going to close soon.”

Will Tielemans move to Arsenal?

Tielemans’ potential move to the Emirates Stadium has dragged on for a long period of the summer now, and with each passing day, it looks less likely that we’ll see the Belgian in an Arsenal shirt this season.

The most likely outcome at the moment, is the aforementioned suggestion that the former Anderlecht man stays at the King Power Stadium for one final season, before moving on next summer to another club on a pre-contract deal, and Arteta and the Arsenal faithful will hope that they are in pole position to secure this move.

However, if the Gunners are desperate to secure the services of Tielemans, they might want to make a move in the next week, to prevent another club from taking him from under their nose when it comes to January.
