Arsenal could promote five players into the first team as they look to tighten their belts without Champions League football for a third season.

Although Arsenal can still qualify for the Champions League if they win the Europa League, it is expected that Unai Emery will only have £40m to spend should they fail.

They’ve already allowed Aaron Ramsey and Danny Welbeck to leave for free in order to get their wages off the books despite the fact they know they need to replace those two players.

According to a report in the Daily Telegraph, Calum Chambers is set to be included in Arsenal’s squad for next season after impressing with Fulham while Reiss Nelson will return from Germany to join him.

The Telegraph’s Sam Dean also believes that Emile Smith Rowe, Bukayo Saka, and Xavier Amaechi are seen as pushing hard for a first-team slot.

It was recently reported that Arsenal would look to sell Chambers and Shkodran Mustafi before they brought in a new centreback even though Chambers has largely been deployed as a defensive midfielder by Fulham this season.

Of his 30 Premier League appearances this season he only played the first five as a centreback before being moved into midfield. He only returned to defence for three games at the end of March.
