Arsenal are considering a move to bring former player Donyell Malen back to the club this summer, according to reports in France.

Le10Sport report that Arsenal have Donyell Malen on their summer transfer list, following the player’s encouraging form since leaving. The club would be particularly keen should Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leave.

There are a few catches though. Malen is reportedly worth €56m, a huge amount more than Arsenal sold him for (less than £1m). Arsenal reportedly don’t have a buy-back clause and the player signed a new deal lasting until 2024. Hence the large valuation.

Additionally, AC Milan are ready to compete with the Gunners for the signing. Not only that, but Malen has fitness concerns after his injury earlier in the season. The player had to undergo minor knee surgery and he’s unlikely to feature again this campaign.

Malen has 28 goals and 14 assists in 71 appearances for PSV since joining. The 21-year-old centre-forward is very highly rated, and hit 10 goal contributions in 10 games in his European qualifiers and Europa League matches this season.

Whether Arsenal can afford that kind of fee for one of their former players is another matter.
