Borussia Dortmund’s Dan-Axel Zagadou has impressed for both club and country and Arsenal are now on high alert.
That’s according to a report in the Mirror, who state that the Gunners were particularly impressed by Zagadou’s performances while captaining France at this summer’s U-20 World Cup in Poland.
Arsenal, though, are still very keen on Saint-Étienne’s teenage centre-back William Saliba and have made him one of their top priorities.
The six-foot-five-inch centre-back appeared to have cemented himself as a regular starter in Lucien Favre’s XI, however, a metatarsal injury and knee problems toward the end of the season limited the 20-year-old to just 17 Bundesliga appearances this season.
After Mats Hummels made a spectacular return to Dortmund last week, it’s possible that the Germans could consider very high offers for the player, though they would be hesitant to part with any of their young talent and are currently under no financial pressure to do so.
Zagadou is still under contract at Dortmund until 2022.
