Arsenal confirm Zubimendi signing | OneFootball

Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Spanish international Martín Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, securing a five-year deal for the 26-year-old after activating his £60 million release clause.

The north London side moved quickly to seal the transfer, seeing off interest from several major European clubs.

Zubimendi had previously turned down Liverpool last summer, opting instead to remain with his boyhood club.

Having progressed through the ranks at Sociedad, Zubimendi established himself as a central figure in their midfield, racking up 236 appearances and netting 10 goals during his time in San Sebastián.

A calm and intelligent presence in the holding role, he’s also become a regular in the Spanish national team setup, particularly stepping up during Rodri’s absence through injury last season. He currently has 19 international caps to his name.

This marks another statement signing for Arsenal as they continue to strengthen ahead of the new season.
