Arsenal complete signing of Swedish international forward Blackstenius
FAWSL Full-Time
The 25-year-old attacker had been linked with The Gunners for the last couple of weeks and a move to Meadow Park was expected when BK Häcken and Blackstenius said their farewells yesterday.
The transfer was announced during Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall’s press conference this afternoon. In conjunction with The Gunners’ usual club protocols, the club have not confirmed the length of Blackstenius’ contract.
The forward netted an impressive 30 goals in just 37 games in all competitions for former club BK Häcken. She was a Damallsvenskan winner with the club in 2020 in their previous form of Göteborg FC while the forward was on target as BK Häcken defeated Eskilstuna United in the 2021 Svenska Cupen final. On the international stage, Blackstenius has been a member of a Swedish side which collected the Bronze Medal at the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019 and the Silver Medal at the Olympic Games last summer.
Arsenal face Reading at Meadow Park on Sunday, however, Blackstenius is likely to have to wait for international clearance before being able to make her debut for The Gunners.
