FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Gunners this morning.
Ilestedt joins Arsenal after spending the last two years in the French capital with Paris Saint-Germain. The defender helped The Parisians to back-to-back second-place finishes in the French D1 Arkema while she won the Coupe de France Féminine with the club in 2021/2022.
The 30-year-old has lots of experience under her belt. In addition to her time with Paris Saint-Germain, Ilestedt has also represented Karlskrona FF, FC Rosengård, Vittsjö GIK, Turbine Potsdam and Bayern Munich.
On the international stage, Ilestedt has been capped by Sweden on 64 occasions at senior level and has scored eight goals. She played for the Swedes at the UEFA Women’s EURO in England last summer.
After completing her move to Arsenal, Ilestedt said “I’m really excited and happy to be here. My goal is to win titles and this is a great club with great players and fantastic facilities, so I believe this is the right place for me to achieve that.
“There is a real sense of momentum around this club and the support has been wonderful. I can’t wait to walk out onto the pitch in the Arsenal kit.”
Ilestedt is Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall’s first signing of the summer transfer window.
