Todofichajes report that Arsenal are ‘very close’ to announcing Layvin Kurzawa on a free transfer. The 27-year-old’s contract comes to an end this summer, so he’s already free to agree on a move.

The Gunners reportedly came to an agreement over a five-year contract with the defender in January. After Paris Saint-Germain failed to convince him to extend, he’s now ready to leave.

Arsenal will reportedly make the move public ‘at the end of the season’, as their first signing. As for when the end of the season actually is, that remains a mystery to most of us.

Kurzawa made 23 appearances for PSG before the Ligue 1 shutdown. Mostly, he played at left-back, though he did make a couple of appearances at right-back and a few more in left-midfield.

Arsenal’s pursuit of Kurzawa this year suggests they’re planning to move Sead Kolasinac on. Kieran Tierney only just arrived, and he’s young with a lot of potential. Bukayo Saka makes a good alternative, so there’s little need for both Kolasinac and Kurzawa.

The Bosnian defender has proven particularly injury-prone so far, so perhaps Arsenal are looking for someone available to play more regularly.
