Arsenal chief executive Vinai Venkatesham was met with derision when he contacted the owners of the Premier League who were not involved in the European Super League plot.

The Gunners - along with Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham - withdrew from the proposed competition after intense backlash from supporters.

Venkatesham attempted to make amends by calling the CEO's of each of the remaining 14 Premier League clubs.

But according to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol, he didn't get the response he was looking for.

The clubs left out of the ESL proposal are pressuring the Premier League to punish the defectors heavily.

La Liga and Serie A have announced they will not punish their clubs who tried to create the breakaway league.
