Players from Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City have been named in the FIFA FIFPRO Women’s World11 for 2021.

The XI was unveiled this evening during the live awards ceremony for The Best FIFA Women’s Football Awards 2021.

Chelsea defenders Millie Bright and Magda Eriksson have been named in the World11 at the end of a year which has seen them lift three trophies and reach a first UEFA Women’s Champions League final while Arsenal goal machine Vivianne Miedema and Manchester City full-back Lucy Bronze also made the selection, the latter is a former Best FIFA Women’s Player award winner.

The FIFA FIFPRO Women’s World11 is an award from the players, for the players. Thousands of football players from around the world casted their votes for this year’s FIFA FIFPRO Women’s World11 selections. Players are asked to nominate their top three players for each position in 2020/2021 – goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and forwards.

Despite winning the UEFA Women’s Champions League in May, the surprising fact about this year’s FIFA FIFPRO Women’s World11 is that the team does not include a single member of the FC Barcelona squad. While the Spanish league continues to go from strength-to-strength, Atlético Madrid’s Estefanía Banini is the only selection from that league.

None of The Best FIFA Women’s Player 2021 finalists have made the FIFA FIFPRO Women’s World11 with other attacking players having received more nominations from their peers.
