Arsenal have been handed a major boost after Martin Odegaard declared himself fit for their Champions League decider against Bayern Munich.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta said captain Odegaard “felt something” late on in Sunday’s 2-0 defeat by Aston Villa, sparking fears over his fitness ahead of the quarter-final second leg against Bayern in Germany on Wednesday night.

But the Norway midfielder trained with the rest of the Arsenal squad at London Colney on Tuesday morning, before his side fly out to Bavaria.

Odegaard’s fitness is a key boost for the Gunners, with the heavyweight last-eight tie still in the balance after a pulsating 2-2 draw at Emirates Stadium last week.

Arsenal have no fresh injury concerns and will fly to Munich on Tuesday afternoon with virtually a fully-fit squad.

Jurrien Timber is the only Arsenal player unavailable, though he is closing in on a return from the serious knee injury he sustained on the opening weekend of the season.

Bayern have been boosted by the fitness of goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and winger Leroy Sane.

Captain Neuer and Sane missed Bayern’s 2-0 Bundesliga win over Cologne on Saturday, but both trained as normal on Monday.

Thomas Tuchel’s side are without Serge Gnabry, who went off injured after scoring against his former club in the first leg, and fellow winger Kingsley Coman, who limped off against Cologne with an adductor muscle problem. Alphonso Davies is suspended, meanwhile.
