Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall says that he is confident that his side would be a match for any team in the world on their day.

The Gunners will need to be at their very best when they face Bayern Munich in the second leg of their UEFA Women’s Champions League, quarter-final tie at The Emirates Stadium this evening. Arsenal trail the German club by a single goal, Lea Schüller’s first half strike being the difference in the first leg.

When speaking in the pre-match press conference, Arsenal boss Eidevall said that his side must get the small details right against Bayern Munich but on their day, they can be a match for the world’s very best.

“I think we can beat any team on any given day,” Eidevall said. “That is such a great feeling to have.

“We know it’s going to be determined by small details but this set of players could play any team in the world and I know we would have a chance of beating them. That is one of the greatest feelings to have because then you know that everything is possible.”

Arsenal are the only English club to have won the UEFA Women’s Champions League. The Gunners won the competition in the old UEFA Women’s Cup format in 2007. Eidevall said that the club are proud of their past European successes.

He said “Champions of the continent is probably the greatest trophy you can win in club football. The fact that we’re the only English club to achieve this so far is something that we are very proud of. Of course, if we could repeat this in the future, it would be great.

“Let’s make the most of it. Maybe we can progress and then once you reach the semi-finals, I think everyone is capable of winning the trophy.”
