Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta admits managing old teammates was something he was worried about.
He took the job last season and left his role as assistant manager at Manchester City.
Arteta was a player at Arsenal and is similar in age to some of the club's older players.
But the Spaniard has taken the role in his stride and improved the team leaps and bounds.
"It is something that before I joined I was a bit concerned with, and at the moment I am not," Arteta told reporters ahead of Thursday's clash with Molde.
"Because I think it is not just something that has to come from me. It is something that both parties have to understand, respect and go about the relationship in the same way.
"To be fair they made it really, really easy for me in that sense.
"Obviously the feelings I have for them won't change whether I am on one side or the other, because at the end we are part of the same thing.
"But it has not been something difficult to manage."
