Arsenal: Arteta could address £25m 'issue' after Vieira at Emirates
GiveMeSport
Arsenal could look to sign a new left-back this summer because of Kieran Tierney‘s injury problems, believes Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.
The Scotsman missed a lot of action last season, and Sheth thinks that could now force Mikel Arteta to dip into the transfer market.
Arsenal may need a new left-back in their squad, and have been linked with Bologna’s Aaron Hickey, but right now their priority is understandably a striker.
The north London club have lost both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette and are now trying to sign Manchester City star Gabriel Jesus to replace their goals.
According to multiple outlets, including GOAL, Arsenal are close to landing the Brazilian in a move that will come as a huge boost to Arteta.
The Gunners boss obviously needs to add some firepower to the squad because of the above, while Jesus is a player he knows well from his time at City as assistant coach.

While signing a striker is at the top of Arsenal’s to-do list, Sheth thinks bringing in a new left-back could also be on the agenda.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the Sky Sports reporter said: “I think they’ll be looking all over the pitch, Arsenal, to try and just beef up the squad with quality. The issue that they have at left-back is Kieran Tierney’s been quite injury-prone while he’s been at Arsenal, and that’s proved to be an issue because they’ve ended up playing a couple of players out of position on occasions.
“Of course, they brought in the likes of Nuno Tavares to try and fill that void. I just wonder whether Arteta will want to bring in someone with a little bit more experience if Tierney’s going to miss a few more games.”
Yes. As Sheth mentioned, Tierney, who arrived at the Emirates for £25m back in 2019, has had a lot of injuries, while Tavares has so far failed to impress when covering for the former Celtic man.
“I’ve seen Tavares play twice, I saw him get ruined at Nottingham Forest and then again last night,” former Tottenham striker Darren Bent said on talkSPORT (via Daily Express) when discussing Tavares’ performance in a 3-0 loss to Crystal Palace back in April.
“And in the commentary Jamie Carragher called it, he said he has to come off at half-time and he did. He got absolutely ruined, he was out of position and not good enough on the ball.”
Jesus looks like he will be joining Fabio Vieira at the Emirates, but you suspect that Arteta will want more signings, with a new left-back possibly on his wish list.
